Super picture, and a good ID by Vin. The girl in the blue dress between the guitarists looks the same as the one behind Andrea in the Pans pic, so i guess they (the cage dancers) were told to stay in the same position during the recording. I'm having a harder time working out where the Tony pic relates, perhaps the moon could be to the right of where the other 2 were taken.
Popscene have added in Presenter pics on some of the available shows, and some of these are new to me.
A 1970 studio, it appears to be before the projection screen was used. Three stages can be seen. There appears to be one to the left of the camera as well. I'm guessing that the cameras mainly stayed in the middle and panned round to the stage on use. This would mean that the backing for the hidden stage would be at right angles to the one on the left.
Here are a couple of shots of Edison Lighthouse on the stage shown on the left in the above picture, so thats probably 8th January, their first performance.
Re: Top of The Pops Sets 1970 - 1973 (forthcoming)
Great stuff Legsfan, nice to see a new person on this thread.
I did try to find a better version of the Edison Lighthouse pic but no luck, but did find this one of Bobby Bloom from 10-09-70, with the same psychedelic tree seen the week before in Make It With You, the colours seem a lot more vivid on the photo than the tv show.
And heres a wider shot of The Beach Boys from 19-11-70
