Hi Folks

I've received a query from Charles Weaver:

Pans People made a film at my Dad's house, Cleeve Mill. near Goring on Thames in 1971 or 1972. They were filmed dancing to The Carpenters Close to You. Also at a later date they danced to a Diana Ross song. Where can I get a copy of the films? I have attached a picture to jog your memories. Thanks Charles Weaver

(Though he doesn't mention the Dian Ross song by name, "I'm Still Waiting" is in the subject line of the email.)

He included a photograph:

I don't know anty more than he does. Can anyone else help?

YMG

You've all done vey well!

Answering off top of my head without checking lists close to you doesn't exist now and the only 'I'm still waiting ' is the one with an unknown dancer who might have been Ruth that I think we have chalked off now.

I'm no expert for that period of time but checking Popscene and Vin's lists it seems that I'm Still Waiting was a year later than Close to You so unlikely they coincided on TOTP but might have been recorded for some kind of Special Show or something.   Miss Ross did have Ain't No Mountain High Enough in the Charts at the same time as Close to You so not sure if this is a possibility.  What do the finer minds and early Pans Specialists think?
Some Dancers who gave a good time, broke all the rules, played all the fools, yeah yeah yeah they blew our minds

Sorry but I haven't the slightest. Besides, I can't make any sense of the above, as Close To You was a hit in 1970, and we have the TOTP (studio) performance. Maybe it was for some other TV show.

Maybe ask him if his dad kept chickens or he has the year wrong and they filmed save your sugar here. Otherwise cant really see how they could have danced to these two round his dads.

Hi, Not sure how I ended up on this site but very interesting.
I knew Charles back then and myself and 2 friends stayed at Cleeve Mill with Charles and his family just a few weeks after Pans People had performed there in 1971. I remember vividly that we all watched the video of this in their lounge room. They were very proud to show it of their beautiful property.
The song was "I'm still waiting". I can't remember how they recorded it but I think the show was "Top of the pops".
I would love to see this again too, will keep searching.
The lovely picture that Charles posted brought back some fond memories.
If Charles reads this, rememder the Datchet days fondly.
