Strictly for the music my vote would have gone to Cameo. But sorry this ain't radio, it's going to the commercialised Liverpudlians.

I quite enjoyed the show, though i didn't think i would before it aired. I decided to vote for OMD. It was rather a pleasant tune that i remember well from back then.

Quiz question. Which famous drummer was undertaking that role in the Eurythmics video ?

He couldn't arf twirl those sticks. This must mean that Blondie were now defunct until the late 90s. I saw them at Glastonbury in 99 but would have loved to have seen them in their pomp. For the show tonight I went for that infamous performance by Cameo.

There are many roads to Damascus. I have had my Damascene moment and from henceforth I will no longer be criticising 80s music and fashions*. I now love the 80s, and I WILL be wearing a red codpiece at the next OFTDs gathering I attend. As my tribute to the great performance by Cameo. Ace, but still not my vote winners.
I enjoyed this good edition of TOTPs, hosted by the Knitwear Twins. Despite more than because of Steve Wright's presence perhaps!
Always good to see Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart in action, clad in leather. And they might have won my choice if they had been in the studio, not on film, although a band performance. Great stickmanship, as noted elsewhere, by Clem. And is Michael gay? The singer from Timex Social Club thinks so, by the limp-wristed movement of a hand- is that even permissible these days? But does Michael want the fact being broadcast on National Television? Has he told his parents yet? Or perhaps he was referring to old smoothie Michael McDonald? Should we know?
I will resist the temptation to say that someone should have drowned Huey Lewis and the News, but I did like the play out video with Five Star. The Communards were considered, and a better showing for me from them than last time, less annoying. But I have to go for OMD a.k.a Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. An impressive effort from the lovable and cuddly Scousers. Top Notch and Spiffing as one might say walking down Lime Street.
*And if you believe that you will believe anything.

The Rubberband Man
Following from the previous and excellent Smith’d show, this was another enjoyable TOTPs. In fact, the only dubious thing on the show was Peter Powell’s jersey, but that’s for another thread.

I have a dilemma for best performance as I liked the Eurythmics, Michael McDonald, OMD and Cameo. It’s not often I have such a broad choice to make, but after much thought I’m going for the Eurythmics –no gimmicks, just brilliant.

I do feel there was a rather more dubious garment in evidence RBM...

I am very pleased that you resisted the temptation as otherwise I would have been asking you to retract on the basis of poor taste.
Without Legs & Co, there would be no show!

Hmmm, I know what you mean 😳
I think the jersey was worse though 😆

Easily the Eurythmics for me (sorry Tourist-loving Boss) but kudos to those of you who voted for You Sexy Thing by OMD and those of you who cold rise above the red groin guard to appreciate Cameo's music as I couldn't quite manage it myself
Some Dancers who gave a good time, broke all the rules, played all the fools, yeah yeah yeah they blew our minds
